There are four different types of alerts on PolicyMogul.
Setting up email alerts with PolicyMogul is simple. By default, you'll receive:
Topics: a 'daily digest' which contains updates from any source (except Parliament Live and Newly tabled written questions), for all of your topics, sent at around 9am on weekdays
Upcoming political events: This includes "The week ahead" (sent on Mondays at around midday), "The day ahead" (sent on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday mornings), and "Westminster business", sent on Thursday afternoons
Consultations: Our consultation tracker is sent on Monday mornings, and shows all newly opened consultations, as well as highlighting relevant consultations to you which have recently opened or will be closing soon
Major announcements: Typically sent 10 - 20 times per year, and includes announcements such as King's Speech, Budget, recesses and ministerial appointments
You can customise your email alerts at any time on the alerts page.
Alerts based on your topics
Choosing the right frequency for email alerts
You can choose from four different alert frequencies in PolicyMogul:
Immediate alerts
You'll receive an email alert as soon as a piece of content matches the keywords or phrases in your topic. We recommend immediate alerts for topics containing only mentions of your organisation name, or other highly-focussed keywords or phrases.
We would not suggest including broad keywords such as 'tax', 'plastic' or 'education' in immediate email alerts, because you'll receive too many emails. For these broader interests, best practice is to create a separate topic with a daily or weekly digest.
Immediate alerts can be received by email or Slack. If you use Slack for internal communication at your organisation, you can set up the integration by going to Settings > Integration with Slack. The Slack integration is available to all Mogul and Enterprise plan subscribers.
Daily digest (on by default)
You'll receive a daily digest of all content that matches the keywords or phrases in your topics, at the time you choose. We recommend daily digests for topics which represent your core interests, such as keywords which describe your industry and competitors.
Twice-daily digest
Choose to receive alerts for a topic up to twice per day. Default times are 9am and 1pm, but times can be changed based on your own preferences.
Note: You will only receive the second digest if there are new updates to show since the first one was sent.
Weekly digest
You'll receive a weekly digest of all content that matches the keywords or phrases in your topic, on the day and time you choose. We recommend weekly digests for topics which represent your peripheral interests, to ensure you don't miss anything whilst avoiding information overload.
Note that digest alerts are only sent if new relevant content has been added to PolicyMogul since your last email alert
Alerts based on upcoming political events
The week ahead: Sent on Mondays around midday, this alert includes details of the upcoming week's business at Westminster and the devolved parliaments.
The day ahead: Sent on Tuesday to Friday mornings, this alert provides the most recently updated information on the day's business at Westminster and the devolved parliaments.
Westminster business: Sent on Thursday afternoons, this alert offers a detailed overview of the scheduled business at Westminster for the next two weeks.
Note that these emails include all political events, regardless of whether they are related to your chosen topics. If you would like to only receive diary alerts if they contain events that are relevant to your topics, you can select the option to 'Only send diary emails that contain events relevant to me, based on my topics'.
Consultation tracker
Our consultation tracker is sent on Monday mornings, and shows all newly opened consultations, as well as highlighting relevant consultations to you which have recently opened or will be closing soon.
Alerts based on major announcements
PolicyMogul provides the option to receive email alerts for all major announcements, including events such as the King's Speech, Budget announcements, parliamentary recesses, and ministerial appointments.
We recommend keeping this feature enabled to stay informed, but you have the option to turn it off if preferred.
If you believe there are additional announcements that should be included in this category, please let us know. We typically send around 10 - 20 alerts per year as major announcements.
